Bracknell is a small farming community nestled under the Great Western Tiers and Dry's Bluff and is located 35km SW of Launceston.

The Bracknell Township in the Parish of Adelphi and the County of Westmorland was settled between two 500 acre sections of land granted by the Crown to a Mr. Paul Minnett between the years of 1825 and 1826

The town has a General Store/Newsagent, Hotel, Roadhouse/Post Office, Baptist Church, Anglican Church and a Primary School.

The World Heritage protected Liffey Falls is a short 20km away.

The Community established itself primarily as a cluster of many small dairy farms but today dairy activities in the district are carried out by a small number of large dairies. Sheep and Beef cattle feature through out, with several pea and poppy crops coming out in areas never before used for cropping.
