Originally an important tin mining district, the economy of Branxholm is now based on agriculture and timber. Hop-growing is also a significant industry in Branxholm and the surrounding district. There is extensive pine and gum plantations nearby which extend north to the slopes of Mt. Horror, an excellent vantage point.
