Cambridge is the gateway to the Coal River Valley Wine region. The original Hobart airport, Cambridge Aerodrome, is now the embarkation point for scenic flying. Operating daily, full and half-day tours cover the south west wilderness, Maria Island, the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur. Helicopter charter, hire and fly aircraft and two flying schools are also located here.

Mount Rumney (378 metres) has a lookout at its summit from which there are panoramic views over land and water.
