Dilston
View Location Map
Now a favoured residential area just 15 minutes from Launceston with panoramic views of the River Tamar, Dilston was a settlement of importance in the early days of the colony as a staging post on the overland route from Launceston to George Town.
The Dilston area was also once a centre for apple and pear orchards. An historic point of interest is the Old Dilston Inn, which was built in 1834 and mentioned in Lady Franklin’s diary.
