Located on the south-east coast of King Island, Grassy was a mining township and is the principal port for the Island.

Grassy Harbour is a man made facility designed for use by either roll-on, roll-off or conventional type shipping.

Scheelite was discovered at Grassy by a Tasmanian prospector in 1911, when he discovered tungsten bearing a specimen on the beach.

Grassy is now a developing residential, holiday and educational village.
