Huonville is the commercial service area of the Huon Valley. A scenic drive of 28 km, crossing the Huon River upstream at Judbury, Huonville includes the townships of Glen Huon, Judbury and Ranelagh.
A rainbow trout fishing farm can be experienced on the Dennison River via Judbury.
Huonville is also the centre of apple growing in Tasmania.
In the years of early settlement, the broad reaches provided transport for timber and rural produce. Tasmania’s valuable soft wood; Huon Pine, was discovered in the district.
There are river cruises, jet boat rides and pedal boats available from the Esplanade, apple industry heritage museum and fruit stalls open all year round at Grove and apple carvers at Glen Huon.
Huonville has sporting clubs which cater for golf, bowls, tennis, badminton, swimming and rifle shooting.
