A small rural residential township including craft shops and an indoor/outdoor market which is held in converted train carriages and a mid week market in a local vineyard.

Margate is also the site of the Dru Point Bi-Centennial Park located on the foreshore of North West Bay. Facilities in the park include sports grounds, tennis courts, picnic/ barbecue shelters, playground equipment and a boat ramp.
