DISTANCES: Launceston 124Km, Devonport 55Km, 15 minutes drive from Sheffield.

Although gazetted a town from old mining days, is now specifically a collection of luxury accommodation places.

From the north and northeast the roads to Moina wind through lush farmlands, climbing rapidly to 624 metres above sea level.

Tall eucalyptus forests of mountain ash, thickets of dogwood, sassafras and myrtle host the fern glades that suddenly appear.  The tall trees and spectacular surrounding mountains dominate the skyline of the small and very unique sub-alpine hamlet of Moina.

Moina is a wilderness experience with the convenience of location, while only a short drive south to Cradle Mountain, many unique cottage industries, wineries, cheese and chocolate factories and farm gate sales from the fertile soils of the north are within easy reach.

This high country is home to Lake Gardiner, a lake in one of Tasmania’s most comprehensive hydro electricity schemes, boasting a network of 7 lakes. From Lake Gardiner tunnels deep underneath Moina transfer water down to Lake Cethana and Lake Barrington, home of the international rowing course. The lakes provide recreation for trout fishing, boating, bushwalking, all within a short walk or drive.
