Perth was selected by Governor Macquarie as a town site in 1821 and was proclaimed a township and Parish in 1836.
There are many historic buildings of interest to be seen at Perth including the Eskleigh Home, the Baptist Tabernacle and Methodist Church, The Jolly Farmer and the Leather Bottell Inn and the Old Crown Inn.
Perth has an excellent skate park facility at the recreation ground.
