The Channel Heritage Museum depicts the way of life of the pioneer days. Blocks of freestone cut at Snug were used in the building of the Melbourne General Post Office.
Excellent swimming and boating facilities exist at nearby Conningham beach, whilst pleasant walks can be taken in the Snug Falls Track area. There are tennis courts, a children’s playground, hotel and caravan park offering a range of accommodation.
Snug is just a 10 minute drive to the Bruny Island Ferry Terminal at Kettering. At Snug Beach is the memorial to people lost in the “Black Tuesday” bushfire disaster in February 1967, when 62 people perished in the fires that raged through southern Tasmania.
