Up until the mid 1990s Tarraleah was a busy Hydro Village, with over 1000 people living and working in the area during the early construction days, as modern technology improved, accommodation close to the Power Stations was no longer needed and the village was downsized and sold off. It is now a privately owned Holiday Village.
The Village is situated on the edge of the Nive Valley escarpment affording fantastic views of the Valley below and beyond.
