The Great Wine Way

How can a small island like Tasmania produce such a broad range of wine varieties of such a consistently high standard? The answer lies in Tasmania’s unique geography, climate and the innovation and dedication of the small but talented group of wine makers around the State.

In a relatively small area you can enjoy a good selection of wine varieties by following one of the four well travelled wine trails. There is a wine trail in the North that runs through the Tamar Valley and Pipers River area. The Southern wine trail includes the Coal River Valley, Derwent Valley, Huon Valley and Tasman Peninsula. The Northwest wine region, stretching from Kentish and Barrington through to Northdown near Port Sorell or the East Coast wine region stretching between Bicheno and Orford.

All are signposted wine trails offering the combination of a scenic tour as well as fine wine. Many vineyards feature fine restaurants using Tasmanina's natural produce, and compliment the Tasmanian experience.
