Nestling beneath picturesque Table Cape, at the mouth of the Inglis River; Wynyard, is the centre of a prosperous farming district.

Whilst the basic industries have not changed, cash crops, dairying and fishing have all achieved a position of importance in the district’s economy. Tourism is also a significant industry.

One of the two major airports on the North West coast is located at Wynyard, with daily services to and from Melbourne. Fishing in the Flowerdale and Inglis Rivers, (estuary and sea) is good.

Nearby Table Cape is a delightful patchwork of green fields and rich volcanic soils, where cliffs plunge to the sea. It contains a fossil cliff close to Wynyard, a lighthouse, and a commercial tulip farm.

A good range of accommodation includes a motel, guest house, family style hotels, holiday units, caravan park and backpackers accommodation.

Wynyard Visitor Centre is located at the Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Centre at Exhibition Link, via Jackson St Wynyard
Ph 03 6443 8330.
